Information and Communication Systems Research Group
The Information and Communication Systems Research Group (IKS) was formed in April, 1998. The group is part of the Institute of Pervasive Computing, one of the institutes within the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich.
The group is led by Prof. Dr. Gustavo Alonso, Dr. Spyros Voulgaris and Dr. Oriana Riva. It currently has five Ph.D. students (assistants, in ETH notation): Patrick Stuedi, Thomas Heinis, René Müller, Jan S. Rellermeyer and Michael Duller. The research interests of the group include parallel and distributed systems, databases, workflow management, image databases, scientific applications of database and workflow technology (for geographic and biochemical data), transaction management, middleware for adaptable applications, dynamic aspect-oriented programming, data acquisition from wireless sensor networks, OSGi and fluid computing.
